DAY 1 Berlin

With yellow trams, shops and fast food it felt like any other city, with grey cobbled streets and a huge telephone mask it made it Berlin. The style around this area was very similar to that in England with the majority of people in jeans and coats to protect themselves from the cold weather.
I did notice however the look of high heels in replacement to flats and boots and the commonest of trainers – not running trainers but trainer shoes. I saw lots of colours and different styles which seemed to be very fashionable not just for boys but also for girls. Dressed up and down, boys were wearing them to skateboard around the area yet some were wearing them shopping.

The rest of the day involved us wondering around the area taking photos of buildings and trends; we visited the Radisson Blu where a fish tank is situated in the reception. It is famous as it is connected to the sea life centre and in the hotel you can get a lift through the fish tank – like you are diving and surrounded by fish.
After we went for some culture and visited the DDR museum – (the Soviet Union museum) to get some German culture into our day.

It was a good museum except I thought it was a bit too overwhelming with information and not enough interaction, as well as this it was very stop start with not much flow when walking round. Next to the DDR Museum was the Berlin cathedral, we tried to go in but it was shut as it was getting late. The Berlin cathedral was very similar to that of our st Paul’s cathedral with the green dome, and looked very elegant next to the river.

We then made our way back towards the hotel in surprisingly quite quiet streets for 6 o’clock. The people on the streets still looked the same and dressed the same and the boys were still skateboarding.
